Kevin Na Mocked By Former Cricket Player Over Tap-In

Kevin Na is a good egg. He’s also openly admits fighting the full swing yips and owns up to the cries of his slow pace of play.

However, former popular cricket player Kevin Pietersen (over 3 million followers) took exception to Na standing over a minute before hitting a short putt at last week’s Genesis Open via Geoffshackelford.com and Golf Digest’s Alex Myers.

I’m not so sure that was a tap-in putt, but to be fair, it did look rather benign considering the length. Suffice to say its easy to dawdle if you’re not comfortable over a shot–especially with some big money involved (Na did finish second).

However, this is yet another “bad optics” moment for our beloved sport. Given the lack of leadership by Tour officials to speed up play, be prepared for more of this outrage. The bigger question is what is taking so long for them to better police the Tour snails? Protecting the field is stance proudly defended by golf officials. Drastically quickening the slowpokes by assessing penalty strokes is strong proof for “talking the talk.”
