Oh So Close To A Miraculously Winning $2.5 Million Bet

This is a story that could’ve been one of the most amazing successful bets in sports history (okay, besides Leicester City winning the Euro Premier league in 2016 at 5000/1 odds).

There are fantasy leagues where you pick a player to win each PGA Tour event each season. You can only use one golfer per season too so its a veritable shot in the dark to win (think picking a different number on every spin of the roulette wheel). Like I said, it ain’t easy.

Anyway, one golf bettor chose his four picks to win each major this year. Shot in the dark, right? Uh, no. The $2 bet would’ve paid off $2.5 million!

Jordan Baker picked the correct winners in three of the four majors–save for Rickie Fowler at the British Open (he finished 12 shots behind Jordan Spieth. How great is that even though Baker made zero money for his great prediction. I wonder what the odds were to correctly nail 3/4 of the majors?

Watching Justin Thomas take the PGA Championship wasn’t easy to digest as Baker’s bet was agonizingly close to a huge payday.

His Twitter feeds during the tortuous view was agony personified.

So far, Rickie has not responded to Baker’s Augusta request…
