PGA Tour To Start Blood Testing In 2017-18

Call it an amazing coincidence or merely reading too much into it, but its curious the PGA Tour announced it will amp up its drug policy by starting blood testing next year right after Tiger Woods Tweeted that he’s getting “professional help” to deal with medications used for back pain and sleep issues.

In another major move, any player violations, whether for PEDs or recreational drugs, will also be reported publicly with the start of the new season. Whoa, now that’s certainly a change.

The Tour’s prohibited list will now include all substances and methods currently on the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited list of Substances and Methods.

The Tour has conducted its testing under a cloak of secrecy for years or by outing journeymen rather than the marquee names. This is a good move for an organization that regularly boasts how “honest” its playing members are…
