Waste(d) Management Streaker Says Jail Time And Losing Job Was Worth It

Talk about your 15 minutes of fame–or in this case infamy.

Adam Stalmach, 24, made the dubious choice to strip naked and streak the 17th green last Wednesday at the Waste(d) Management Phoenix Open. You may wonder why someone would decide to show his twig and berries to the public. Then again, security apparently didn’t seem to mind as they took their sweet time before going out to subdue the blasted fan. So all was okay, right?

Well, no. Stalmach did some jail time and ultimately lost his job. But, he also said it was worth it as 3TV/CBS5 reports.

“I thought it was worth it because it made people laugh.”

He spent five days in jail and now faces $1,500 in fines. He was released early Monday morning.

“It sucked. Jail is not fun. It’s not a good idea,” Stalmach described.

“Me and my buddy were talking about somebody streaking throughout the day and we figured, if you want something done right, do it yourself,” said Stalmach. “As long as somebody laughed and got a kick out of it, that’s why I did it.”

Stalmach explained that he drank at least eight drinks in an hour, a combination of beer and wine. That was before he stripped down to his now grass-stained socks, and ran across the golf course, putting himself on full display in front of thousands of people.

“The alcohol helped. I definitely wouldn’t have done it if I was sober,” he said.

As for those fines, Stalmach just lost his job as a bartender at a Valley restaurant so he set up a GoFundMe account in the hope that people will help him pay for his mistake. By 9:30 p.m. Monday, it appeared he raised $254 and the campaign is “no longer active.” Another GoFundMe was then posted.

“My last words before running out were, ‘I just wanna give the crowd something to cheer about.’ This fund will go towards all fines I have to pay,” he wrote on the page, which he signed “Waste Management Streaker.”

So can we expect a repeat performance from Stalmach?

“I definitely wouldn’t do it again,” he said. “I do want to apologize to anyone I did offend.”

He was fortunate for one thing…

Scottsdale Police had considered possible felony charges and requiring Stalmach to register as a sex offender if a kid under the age of 15 was identified in the crowd.

Today, Scottsdale Police Sgt. Ben Hoster confirmed he doesn’t have to do that.
