Matt Kuchar Nearly Flushes First Round Tee Time Away

Matt Kuchar nearly missed his tee time this morning when nature called. Urgently called.

According to Golf Channel’s commentary, Kuchar was scheduled to be the first in his group to tee off. Six minutes before his tee time, he turned to caddie John Wood and said he had to use the bathroom. He ran back to the clubhouse and then back to the first tee, making his tee time with 40 seconds to spare. The best part? He even took the time to shake hands with volunteers in the tunnel on his way back. Classy move.

Kuchar’s frantic start to the round didn’t affect his play. He shot a one-under 70 in the first round.

Meanwhile Jhonattan Vegas nearly missed his tee time when he forgot his VISA had expired. So, Vegas needed to helicopter to Carnoustie without his sticks as the National Club Golfer reports.

Everything seems to be against me to get my visa and make @TheOpen. First, @UPS mechanical problem and passport is running late and second, weather thru NYC and flight is delay. Probably need to find another flight. 😩😩😩😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

But just when Vegas, a three-time PGA Tour winner, thought his luck was in, it turned out his golf clubs had not made it to Scotland.

It resulted in him and his caddie rushing around the practice ground putting together some Mizuno, Titleist and TaylorMade clubs for him to use.

Luckily Mizuno, with whom he has a contract to play their irons, had a spare tour bag available.

Vegas managed about 20 minutes of practice before going on to shoot a four-over par 75.
