Tony Romo Shoots 3-Under To Tie For Mid-Am Lead
Tony Romo loves to compete. So when he missed qualifying for the U.S. Open at Gleneagles on Monday, the ex-Cowboy got back on the horse to try again at the Mid-Am at the Carlton Woods Invitational in Houston yesterday.
And, his 3-under 69 ties for the lead entering today’s round. Via the Houston Chronicle.
Playing in the event for the first time, the 38-year-old Romo had five birdies and two bogeys on the Fazio Course at The Club of Carlton Woods. He shares the top spot of the 54-hole invitational in the mid-amateur division with Brian Blanchard of Tempe, Az., and Ryan Eibner of Dallas.
Romo birdied holes 4, 6 and 7 but dropped two shots in the middle of the round. He recovered with birdies at 12 and 17.
Six players broke par on Tuesday. Last year there were only seven under par rounds for the entire invitational.
The event ends after Thursday’s round.
Hey, the man has game. And we love the fact he continues to compete. ‘Cause ya never know…
