Texas Junior Golf Tour Acquires Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour

Here’s the press release regarding significant news for junior golf as our growing Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT) acquires the neighboring Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour (RMJGT).

The Texas Junior Golf Tour Purchases the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour

The Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT) announced today the purchase of the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour (RMJGT), a move that will offer even more playing opportunities for thousands of aspiring college golfers across the western United States.

Hailed as one of the best avenues for junior golfers to gain national exposure to collegiate golf programs and coaches, the RMJGT and TJGT will join forces to offer more than 100 top-tier events across eights states. Last year, the RMJGT tallied more than 2,700 player entries and 6,000-plus rounds of golf throughout Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, while the TJGT welcomed more than 4,000 player entries totaling 8,000-plus rounds of golf in Texas. Those numbers will surely rise, as RMJGT members now have the ability to tee it up in TJGT events, and vice versa.

Highlighting the synergies between the two tours and the chance to offer more competition for hundreds of junior golfers, TJGT Executive Director Travis Measley noted the chance to acquire the RMJGT was too good to pass up.

“Honestly, we couldn’t have found a more perfect partner than the RMJGT,” Measley said. “In addition to sharing the same passion for hosting exciting events for junior golfers, our tours share the same philosophy of helping these young men and women get exposed to and hopefully sign with the college golf program of their dreams.”

And the TJGT knows a thing or two about turning dreams into reality. Since its inception in 1989, the TJGT—whose mission is to help families navigate the road to college golf—has produced more than 4,000 collegiate golfers at all levels of the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA. Among its more famous alumni are recent Masters champion Patrick Reed, three-time major winner Jordan Spieth, LPGA superstar Lexi Thompson, and future hall of famer Stacy Lewis. TJGT alumni have also gone on to win several state and national championships, and annually populate the collegiate ranks of All-Americans and Walker Cup team members.

In addition to bringing its solid relationships with Callaway Golf and Cobra Puma Golf as the main tour sponsors, the TJGT is also excited to implement its hugely successful model of having top high school golf coaches staff events. Knowing the impact that a well-run event can have on both players and parents, TJGT events are staffed by men and women who have decades of coaching experience and have sent hundreds of juniors on to play college golf and beyond.

“We’re excited to build upon the success that Vince and Tracy Cologne have accomplished in the past nine years,” said Craig Rosengarden, President of Avid Media Ventures, Inc., which, in partnership with long-time golf industry executive Joe Munsch, purchased the TJGT in 2016. “As a parent of a former junior golfer, I know what players and parents are expecting at high-level events. We’re excited to exceed those expectations as big things are on the horizon for the RMJGT and its members.”

Rosengarden’s Avid Media Ventures, Inc., has been serving golfers in the Southwest United States for more than decade. It publishes Avidgolfer Magazine, a staple in tens of thousands of golfers’ libraries for the past 20 years, and manages iDealGolfer.com, the daily deal web venture that has booked more than one million rounds of discounted golf in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, and Texas since 2010. Now backed by one of the region’s strongest golf media companies and partnered with one of the biggest junior golf tours in the lone star state, the RMJGT is well positioned to greatly expand its footprint on the national junior golf stage.

“RMJGT members will continue to experience great events with the same level of exemptions, points, and opportunities, as well an excellent level of service and support on top-tier golf courses in the region,” Measley said. “Our goal is to continue to provide one of the best junior golf experiences in the country, from the first tee shot to the last putt.”
