Phil Mickelson Ends Winless Streak And Says He Can Get To 50 Tour Wins

Phil Mickelson ended an 1,687-day winless streak by taking the WGC-Mexico Championship on Sunday. Phil’s par beat Justin Thomas on the first playoff hole to earn his 43rd PGA Tour event–but first since the 2013 Open Championship.

Mickelson, who closed with a 5-under 66, won for the first time since the 2013 British Open at Muirfield, a stretch of 101 tournaments worldwide.

“I can’t put into words how much this means to me,” Mickelson said. “I knew it was going to be soon — I’ve been playing too well for it not to be. But you just never know until it happens.”

‘I am shaking on the inside and I enjoy that.’

Mickelson won his third World Golf Championships title and, just a month after being on the verge of falling out of the top 50 in the world for the first time in two decades, moves to No. 18 in the world.

Mickelson believes he’ll get to 50 wins on Tour.

“Oh I will. Yeah, I’ll get there.”

Phil is playing some quality golf lately. He has four consecutive top 10s for the first time since 2005.

Meanwhile, Thomas scorched the course over the weekend going 62-64. If Justin had won, his final two-round 126 would’ve beaten previous record holder Hideki Matsuyama’s 128 at last year’s WGC at Firestone CC.

His final hole was special–even with the awkward fist bump/high-five…

The Masters in April just got a whole lot more interesting–especially if Tiger Woods can do something the next two weeks at The Valspar and Bay Hill Invitational.
