Cameron Champ Is A Vegas Masters Favorite, But There’s A Catch. A Big One.

Cameron Champ is one of the more exciting players to arrive on the PGA Tour. He smashes drives a bloody mile and has already won an event in his early career.

Now, even the Las Vegas sharps are listing him as one of the 20-best favorites at the 2019 Masters.

But as as Golf Digest’s Stephen Hennessey posts, Champ has one big issue–he’s yet to receive a Masters invite.

I can’t recall this ever happening. Sure, Champ’s talent could ramp him into the top-50 or win a full-strength event before April, but to post odds of a player as yet to receive an official invite is quite surprising.

His victory at the Sanderson Farms Championship in October does not give him an Augusta National invitation, which is the case with all fall season events.

He’s currently 97th in the world rankings, moving up significantly after his win at the Sanderson and then recording top-10s at the RSM Classic and the Mayakoba Classic to finish the fall campaign.

If Champ can keep up his hot play in 2019, you’d expect he has a good chance of rising to the coveted top 50 in the world rankings, which earns a Masters invite.

Something tells me Champ’s performance will earn that hallowed card in the mail. Just you watch.
